Saying it see the transition to electric vehicles as “inevitable,” the Saint John Airport has installed the province’s first air terminal EV charging station.
The charging station was added during renovations and is already open for use, the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal reported this week.
At a rate of $1-per-hour of charging, electric vehicles drivers will also enjoy free short-term parking thanks to a partnership with Saint John Energy.
According to FleetCarma, a tech company involved in analyzing electric car usage, there were 22 electric vehicles on the road in New Brunswick as of August 2017.
Even though the numbers aren’t very impressive at the moment, Saint John Airport president and CEO Derrick Stanford says the airport sees a transition coming.
“There’s enough people working on this that it’s inevitable,” he said.
