Write to the Minister to protect right whales To First Name Last Name Email Postal Code Subject Your message Dear Minister, I write today to show you my support and ask for your continued resolve to protect and restore the north Atlantic right whale population. I, like so many Canadians, am deeply worried about the future of this iconic whale. Having had the chance to see this great mammal yourself earlier this summer, I do not need to tell you how majestic and beautiful they are, or how fortunate we are to have them in our waters. Thank you for the meaningful actions you — and the countless efforts of scientists and the conservation and fishing communities — have already taken to help protect the right whale from further deaths. I was heartened when you, standing on a dock in Pointe-du-Chêne, pledged to do everything you can to protect each of these whales and to work toward the restoration of the species. You, as Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard, have the power to put this critically-endangered species on a course toward recovery, so that Canadians and visitors to our nation can witness their beauty, as you did, for generations to come. We know that north Atlantic right whales play a critical role in ocean ecosystems. In an era of climate change, where our oceans and ocean-dwellers continue to face increasing stress, it is critical that we do all that we can to protect all aspects of the ecosystem — from the very small to the very large. The north Atlantic right whale can not sustain more deaths at the level we’ve seen this summer. I ask that you keep the protection and recovery of the right whale a priority to ensure this species never suffers these catastrophic losses in our waters again. Sincerely,
