Roughly 50 people joined our Fundy Baykeeper Matt Abbott on Saturday, July 18 for the annual Musquash Paddle. Overcast skies provided the perfect conditions for a trek through the stunning flora, friendly wildlife, historic wrecks, and beautifully-preserved salt marsh of the Bay of Fundy’s Musquash Estuary.
As always, the event attracted many return paddlers along with a good mix of new faces from the local community, region and beyond.
About one third of the group ventured beyond the halfway point at Five Fathom Hole Wharf for the extended trip on the more open waters of the bay to Black Beach.
Participants were treated to a beachside BBQ after a wonderful day on the water, with the homemade burgers of Fundy Baykeeper summer student Bernard proving quite popular!
Thank to you all participants for supporting the Conservation Council and Fundy Baykeeper. Special thanks to the volunteers who helped make this event another great experience for all involved. (And a shout out to paddlers Dorothy Rideough and Roy F Gregan for sharing these photos!)
