FREDERICTON — In honour of World Wetlands Day (Feb. 2), the Conservation Council of New Brunswick and New Brunswick wildlife and conservation photographer Nick Hawkins have released a virtual tour of NB wetlands.

The tour will be available through the Conservation Council’s website using this link [not active until tomorrow at 7 a.m.]: http://www.conservationcouncil.ca/world-wetlands-day-ccnb-celebrates-with-a-virtual-tour-of-new-brunswick-wetlands/

“You can’t walk far in New Brunswick without getting your feet wet,” says Lois Corbett, Executive Director of the Conservation Council. “New Brunswick wetlands are critical to our forests, our coastlines and our marine waters. They deserve to be protected and they deserve to be celebrated.”

A young New Brunswicker, Nick Hawkins has quickly gained international attention for his captivating work. Nick’s images have been featured in the BBC Wildlife Magazine and Canadian Geographic, and he has received awards in the Windland Smith Rice International photography awards as well as the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014.

Nick is passionate about New Brunswick’s wilderness, its Acadian forest, rivers, lakes, coasts and ocean waters. His work highlights the wonder of our natural areas and calls on all of us to appreciate, protect and restore what we have. He is currently on assignment in Costa Rica, using camera traps to reveal the secret lives of nocturnal animals such as ocelots and tamanduas.
