FREDERICTON — Lois Corbett, Executive Director of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, issued the following statement about TransCanada Corporation’s decision to cancel plans for an export terminal in Quebec related to its Energy East bitumen pipeline proposal:
“From where we’re standing, the announcement today by TransCanada is much ado about nothing: it does nothing to change the risks this project poses to the Bay of Fundy, its whales, or the sustainable regional jobs provided by scallop and lobster fisheries.
“If anything, today’s announcement leaves New Brunswickers with even more questions about how this project will impact our province and the world-famous Bay of Fundy.”
