Nadia Francavilla is one of Canada’s leading performers and advocates of new contemporary music. A renowned violinist, she brings rare and overlooked works to New Brunswick audiences; commissions new works particularly from Canadian women composers; and brings together collaborators across a spectrum of artistic disciplines to push the boundaries of music as performance art.
Her performance practice is deeply centered in partnerships. From this foundation – of trust, communication, the interplay of ideas – she explores the boundaries of what the violin can do as an instrument, and how a violinist can be as a performer.
For Nadia, the roles of performer, curator, producer, educator, and climate activist are all intertwined. We are all in this together, and the most interesting results come from discovering, challenging, and supporting one another.
