We love the changes announced recently for an improved federal Fisheries Act that will keep our oceans healthy and keep sustainable fisheries thriving in our coastal communities! The changes mean good news for our wet province, providing much-needed habitat protection and ensuring the livelihoods of New Brunswickers who depend on a healthy marine environment, from the Bay of Chaleur, down along the Northumberland Strait, clear out to the beautiful Bay of Fundy.

We love shiny rooftops
Some great news we know you’ll love — the City of Fredericton made its first foray into city-owned solar power with the installation of a 17-kilowatt array at the Killarney Lake Lodge. Even sweeter? The array was installed by CCNB member Mark McCann and his team at MJM Solar Solutions. The mayor says this first project (first solar project, mind you: Fredericton is already doing some great things with renewables — think geothermal at the Grant Harvey Centre or methane capture at landfills) will pave the way for even bigger things to come.

What’s better than an evening snowshoeing through woodland trails, warming up around a toasty bonfire and sipping home-made soup with fresh biscuits and scrumptious dessert?
