Join the discussion on water protection
Earlier this month the province released a discussion paper to begin building a water protection strategy for New Brunswick. Open houses are being held over the next two weeks in Grand Falls, Bathurst, Miramichi, Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton to give citizens a chance to weigh in on the discussion. We need a strong water protection strategy that has legally-enforced water quality objectives, is backed up with regulatory clout, and is enforced, in order to fully protect our 60,000 kilometres of streams and rivers. Get the full list of dates, times and locations here. Read more about the discussion paper on our website.

Smart policy then, smart policy now
The government-appointed New Brunswick Commission on Hydraulic Fracturing released its long-awaited fact-finding report late last month. The citizen-led Commission described the significant work that would be required before any type of development could proceed in the province. As we point out in our commentary on the report, it also demonstrates that now is the time to begin transitioning to a low-carbon economy in N.B. Read more about the report and find links to the full document on our website.

Keep the signatures coming
Our petition against herbicide spraying in the Crown forest has been extended by several months. Due to scheduling changes at the Legislature, we will be submitting the petition in three batches — one in April, one in May, and one in autumn. The deadlines for each batch are on our website, where you can also download and print the petition to circulate it in your community.
