Miramichi mill under fire for ‘toxic’ emissions

“These are nasty, toxic, cancer-causing chemicals,” said Inka Milewski, of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick.

The mill’s operating permit from the Department of Environment allows for 140 metric tonnes of formaldehyde emissions a year.

That’s more than what was allowed for most of the time Weyerhaeuser was running the mill, said Milewski.
