A one of a kind handmade mixed media piece that captures a small piece of the forest floor. Created using needle felting techniques and mounted on local New Brunswick shale and finished with locally sourced lichen. Each needle felted piece takes 4-6 hours to complete depending on the size.
This piece features Laccaria amethystina, commonly known as the Amethyst Deceiver, it is a small brightly coloured mushroom that grows in deciduous and coniferous forests. Because its bright amethyst colouration fades with age and weathering, it becomes difficult to identify, hence the common name “deceiver”.
