I was first inspired to create the ‘Red Rose’ after I spent some time just sitting in the backyard watching our rose plants and the variety of bugs and wildlife that frequented the plants. One particular rose caught my eye, half-obscured by a massive leaf. Focusing on this incredible flower in its full bloom with half of it out of my view left me to imagine the entire flower in my mind as I would have seen it. No matter how many times I looked away, I was drawn back to that same rose. I found that the rose only being half viewable was more intriguing and gave me a sense of wonderment of how it must look in full view. I also found that I did not want to see this incredible flower in its entirety. Seeing this single rose gave half-obscured provided me with more enjoyment than I could ever imagine.
