Youth artists tackle climate crisis

The grand opening of the “Voices of Tomorrow” Exhibition took place on Feb. 3, showcasing a captivating multi-generational art journey orchestrated by Riverview-based painter Ji Hyang. 

At the center of this collaborative endeavour was a vibrant mural project crafted by the youth of Riverview, New Brunswick, depicting their aspirations for a sustainable future amidst the challenges of climate change. About 70 visitors were moved by the emotional resonance of the artwork, which was a culmination of the efforts of both local New Brunswick youth and seasoned adult artists.

 The exhibition was held at the Riverview Public Library, offering attendees an opportunity to immerse themselves in the creativity and vision of the community.

About the exhibition

Beginning on Dec. 10, a group of enthusiastic Riverview teenagers took part in a series of Sunday sessions guided by the talented Ji Hyang Ryu.

These young minds participated in five to six immersive gatherings where they joined forces to to create a vibrant mural depicting their aspirations, concerns, and hopes for a planet in the throes of environmental change. These sessions unfolded in Ji Hyang Ryu’s studio, offering participants a nurturing space to express their creativity.

In addition to the central mural, seasoned adult artists have also contributed artworks that complement and enrich the exhibition’s narrative.

This exhibition ran throughout February 2024, with the grand opening taking place on February 3rd.
